Bryan “Bori” Cortés is a Puerto Rican cinematographer, raised on the island and now based in NYC. His work focuses on character-driven storytelling, especially in genre films like sci-fi and horror. He approaches cinematography as world-building and loves creating the architecture actors move through, using light and movement to support performance and help suspend disbelief.

His perspective is shaped by his theatre background. He trained in musical theatre and worked as a performer for many years, which taught him how actors inhabit and interact with space. For him, every element in a frame should feel present and real, not simply like a backdrop.

He received an MFA in cinematography from Brooklyn College, often works as a 1st AC on sets, and occasionally helps teach state-sponsored camera assistant programs, training others in the technical skills that really matter.

Fun fact: he was born in Mexico by accident and holds dual citizenship.
